HISTORY

The business originated in 1952 when Mr Philip Beck decided to set up on his own having served his time in the Royal Navy and later at Thorn Electronics. After a long period of establishment alone the work level grew to the extent where extra staff were required in order to cope with demand.

In 1968 his eldest son joined the business and then some five years later his youngest son also joined them and the rest of the team, however, at this juncture it was decided that the business would benefit its clients by offering a further service of retail sales at prices that matched the multiples BUT a family type sales staff. This was the first shop was built on the outskirts of Glastonbury in 1985

Mrs Beck carried on helping the family business to expand by answering the telephone and using her wealth of knowledge to serve in the shop assisting people with their choice of appliances. Once again it was a resounding success and soon it became necessary to move forward once more with a full time secretary being the next step.

As time progressed the logical step was to employ full time appliance engineers closely followed by the purchase of a further company in 1988 which specialised in television and video and more recently in satellite and communications.

The NICEIC contracting business was also growing, with the help of Clarks Village shopping Centre opening in the nearby town of Street. The contractors have worked for many High Street names and have made valuable long term ties with many of these. Also a new venture allowed the contracting arm of the business to partner the maintenance company for the MOD, working as specialist contractors in 5 different sites.

THE FUTURE

The business is committed to the future and, as such, continues to strive to give better service at a price that is hard to beat. The hope is that when you have used our services once, you will perceive just how much we can help.
